@manton I’ve been applying the training system of NewsBlur on the RSS feeds of various news sites (Guardian, Techdirt, Wired, El Pais (english version), NPR, CBC and Christian Science Monitor at the moment, but looking to add more sources from Europe and elsewhere) to cut the running commentaries as much as possible.

@basicappleguy.com Speaking of which… got my M3 sticker end of last week, now proudly on display next to touchpad on my MacBook Air. 🙂

@maique I think I might have used that site in the distant past, but eventually got out once they started pummelling me with ‘bargains’ I didn’t need. I think their target audience are people who literally don’t do anything else apart from buying stuff. Late-stage capitalism at its worst.

@LJPUK That has rekindled my thoughts about getting a refurbished OG iPhone SE and using that as an iPod Touch… 🤔

@LJPUK My last three iPhones have all been refurbs, zero regrets. If there’s any dogma, I think it’s Gruber’s rather than iFixit’s…

@maique Not heard of them before, but looks interesting, thanks for the pointer. 👍

@LJPUK Out of morbid curiosity, I tried Apple Music again around Christmas time as I was offered a three-month trial with my new MacBook Air — however, it doesn’t seem to have improved at all, and I’d rather put that money towards buying music rather than another subscription of dubious quality.

@LJPUK I’m currently using Swinsian, but that hasn’t been updated since 2021 (not so terrible) and is Intel-only (not so great, since I expect Rosetta 2 to suffer the same fate as its predecessor once Apple decide so.) At some point I’ll have to find another music manager, preferably one that actually manages.
